Knowing Your Power Animals

Adulting is exhilarating, terrifying, mundane, and overwhelming at the same time.

We try to find our way by exploring different situations, diving into various topics, and socializing to see where we fit in.

Sometimes, we don’t fit in, so we pretend we do.

We hide in plain sight.

I did that for decades.

Was it because I was sexually assaulted at 10 years old? Or was I destined to be different than my peers all along?

I know that Great Spirit has equipped me and is continuing to equip me with knowledge and skill in concepts to further my path, my Divine purpose.

I was a young teen when I was drawn to tigers. (I have over 20 pieces in my tiger collection to date.)

In 1980, I was drawn to Shamanism and found Michael Harner’s book, The Way of the Shaman. The connection to the knowledge shared was deep and resonated within my soul.

I was newly married, afraid of my own shadow, let alone that I didn’t conform to what society considered “normal”, so I made my interest wane and focused on being a wife, joining the military, and becoming a mother.

I still collected tiger things, paintings, figurines, etc.

Fast forward to 2009. My mother had recently crossed over. I was unhappy; I had stuffed the real me into a crevice of my being for the last 29 years, and it was time to uncover the real me.

The first choice I made was to follow my heart.

I went on my first Shamanic Journey to find my Power Animal.

I laugh at myself now. WE don’t find our Power Animals. THEY choose to reveal themselves to us.

I was fortunate my Power Animal revealed himself to me on that Journey, as it was my first one.

If you’ve made it this far, you must have guessed my Power Animal.

Tiger

Two Power Animals choose us at birth.

One of mine is Tiger. He made himself known to me at a young age; I didn’t understand.

Do you want to know who your Power Animal(s) is/are?
